When is Ranger Orientation, Advising, and Registration (ROAR)?
ROAR takes place the summer before you begin classes. Once you pay your enrollment deposit and activate your UW-Parkside email, you will be able to pick a date that works best with your schedule! You register online to attend.
How much does the program cost?
The new student fee assists in covering the cost for students to attend ROAR. The non-refundable fee for all incoming students is assessed on the fall tuition statement. This fee covers lunch and refreshments, materials and all other program-related costs. If guests will be attending ROAR, there is a $20 per person fee. This covers the cost of food and materials for the day. This fee is added to the spring tuition statement.
What time does ROAR start?
Check your UW-Parkside email for the confirmation. Inside the email you will find the time to check-in and instructions for the day. Students are required to attend the entire program
. Where do I park for ROAR?
Park in Lot A (Student Center Parking Lot) in any of the unmarked spaces. Do not park in metered, handicapped or reserved spaces. You do not need a permit during a ROAR Session. Campus Map and Directions
Do I need to bring anything to ROAR?
We will have all the supplies you need! Just get a great nights rest and come prepared to learn, meet your classmates and register for classes!
When do I register for classes?
You will register for classes at ROAR. You will meet with an academic advisor at this time to discuss your course schedule.
What else happens during the day?
By the end of ROAR, you will have taken a tour of campus, learn about the various offices and resources provided, and sit in special sessions where you will talk with current students, faculty and staff about academic and social aspects of the campus. You also will get your Ranger Card (Student I.D) picture taken. Lunch is provided
Are parents required to attend ROAR?
No, parents are not required to attend ROAR, but are encouraged to attend. Parents and guests will have their own agenda for the day and participate in separate sessions than the students.
What if I can't attend a session?
ROAR is mandatory in order to register for classes. If you choose not to attend you will need to make alternate arrangements with the Advising and Career Center. Please note that you will not be able to register until the open enrollment process. Since ROAR is mandatory, the fee is still assessed. There are no refunds.
What if I'm transferring from another school?
That's great, we're glad you selected UW-Parkside! If you are transferring with fewer than 15 credits, you are still required to attend a ROAR session. Even though you've already experienced college, there are helpful things to know about UW-PARKSIDE and we want your transition here to be a smooth one.
What if I was in the Youth Options Program?
We're excited that you'll be continuing your education at UW-Parkside! Since you were still in high school while you participated in the Youth Options Program and haven't accumulated more than 15 credits, you will still be considered an entering freshmen. ROAR will be an added benefit to you because you will learn even more about UW-Parkside and the focus will be on you as a college student.
What happens if I attend a ROAR session but withdraw from UW-Parkside before the start of the term?
If you attend a session, you will still be financially responsible for the cost of the program.
