Hey, I’m Amel, originally from Syria, I spent majority of my life around the Chicago/Kenosha area, but been all over the world and lived in numerous Middle Eastern countries. Doing that, I was lucky enough to study abroad and meet the “million and a half” relatives I never knew growing up. So that was ‘semi-fun’ and exciting. I love to travel, I love learning new things and meeting new people, new cultures, new ideas. Growing up, I loved sports and fitness; I spent a lot of time in gymnastics and had a passion for tae-kwon do. I have an Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education and I transferred to Parkside last summer to major in Psychology. I really hope to do some type of counseling psychology one day, preferably mental health counseling which specializes in helping individuals unravel the mystery behind their personal problems and pin-point what may or may not be the cause to their personal issues. Other than my serious side, I can be really goofy and outgoing, I know it might not seem like it, but you'd just have to hang around with me and find out.

My favorite place at UW-P other than Starbucks is the library's third floor. It’s the "quiet place" the "sanctuary", there are plenty of group study rooms and cozy places you can get comfortable and just relax, study, and collect your thoughts. There's such a large selection of books, I don't know where to start. I'm always on the prowl for a new favorite spot and a new favorite book, the library's always a great place to start.

Hometown: Racine
I am very excited to be a senior this year working towards a Business Management degree with a concentration in accounting and a minor in ethnic studies. I am a very welcoming individual who is growing everyday here at my university. I am learning new things left and right from both faculty and students, which to me is GREAT in preparation for the “real” world. Since my incoming year I have gotten involved with a number of clubs/organizations such as Parkside Activities Board, Residence Hall Association, First Year Experience, Office of Multicultural Student Activities (OMSA), and Omega Delta Phi Fraternity Inc. Also I have volunteered with different groups across campus to aid in the growth of our community. I really enjoy helping others and experience huge gratification when those who I assist succeed at what they desire to achieve. Overall I strive to be the person in the world that makes change in a positive way and I motivate others to recognize their worth and do the same.

My favorite place on campus is OMSA. It has given me the opportunity to work and I have learned so much in just a small amount of time. I am still learning about how things work for our university on a larger scale and some things that students could do to aid in the advancement of our institution. This office is great in addressing and helping with student needs and concerns. In addition to that, we have some great staff personnel in the department that really listen and care for the students here at Parkside. When you come to the office there is always an opportunity for students to develop a sense of belonging, I classify it as my wacky, professional family. Essentially I challenge ANYONE one to visit the office and utilize its services and say that they haven’t learned anything that will help them in life (it can’t be done)...OMSA R-O-C-K-S!!!

Hometown: Milwaukee, WI
I am Ericka Gonzalez from Milwaukee, WI. I am a junior at UW-Parkside majoring in Applied Health Science with a concentration in Pre-Chiropractic. Within the next year, I plan to attend chiropractic school down south. I intend on having my own chiropractic office in which I want to focus on treating mothers during and after their pregnancy as well as treat their children. I also am an animal lover, so I hope to get training in Animal Chiropractic.

My favorite place on campus: Hmm, this is tough! I sure do love the Student Center since it has both the Encore which serves my favorite Starbucks coffee, and the Brickstone, which is filled with food and snacks since I love food. However, I do love the new Strength & Conditioning Center so I can get my workouts on!

Hometown: Racine, WI
My name is Imani Hill, I'm from Racine Wisconsin, and currently in the middle of my Sophomore year hear at Parkside. I am majoring in General Business and working towards a certificate in Entrepreneurship as well. I love to dance, and have been on Chaos Dance Team here on campus for 2 years, and I am currently the Secretary. I love relaxing, shopping, and having a good time with friends and family.

My favorite places on campus would have to be the dance studios in the sac, the bridge, and my apartment. I'm excited to participate in ROAR to encourage and help new students get ready for their first year just like I was helped when I was in their shoes two years ago.

ERIC KOESTER
Hometown: Waterloo, WI
My hometown is the small town of Waterloo, WI. It is about half an hour east of Madison. I will be a junior at UW-P in the fall of 2013. I anticipate graduating with a major in both Sport and Fitness Management. After completing my undergraduate studies at UW-P, I plan on attending graduate school, with the intent of obtaining a Master’s degree in the field of Kinesiology. Hopefully, my additional schooling will allow me to start immediately in my desired field of strength and conditioning. My goal, or dream job, is to be the head strength and conditioning coach at a high level Division 1 college. My biggest interest or passion is personal wellness and fitness. The sport that I enjoy participating in the most is basketball.

My favorite place at UW-P is the new strength and conditioning center. I try to work out on a daily basis and the new addition to the campus is an amazing one. It is a true blessing to be able to utilize such a beneficial facility.

Hometown: Minneapolis, MN
I am a senior at UW-Parkside majoring in Business Management and a certificate in Entrepreneurship. I will graduate early in December 2013. My hometown is Minneapolis, Minnesota. I am very much a "city girl" and I love my family and friends. I plan to open a spa when I am 25 years old. I love my position as a ROAR leader because I can help a lot of people and kind of see their journey afterwards.

My favorite place to be on campus is the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs (OMSA) because I can get work done there and also hang out. It is kind of like a home away from home environment; that is also where I served my internship.

Description: LaQuinta.jpegLAQUNITIA MCCLENDON
Hometown: Chicago, IL
I'm LaQunitia McClendon but many of my professors and friends call me Red as a nickname. I was born and raised in Chicago, IL, and I'm currently majoring in Psychology with a minor in Criminal Justice. I plan on going to grad school to obtain a Ph.D and become a personal/ marriage counselor. If that doesn't work out then I would like to work for the FBI as a Psychologist. I have a special interest in dancing, reading and writing poetry. My favorite sports are basketball and football.

My favorite place at UW-P is the library and my room. I picked the library because it's quiet and a great place to get my work done. It's where I can be productive and creative by letting my thoughts flow and a great place to get away. I chose my room because I don't have a roommate so, when I want to be alone, I can just think and do what I want.

SAMANTHA McDONALD

My name is Samantha McDonald. I am from Wisconsin Rapids, but I grew up in Chicago. I am currently a sophomore. I plan to major in Sociology and eventually start an adoption counseling center for teen and battered mothers. I like to play volleyball for fun.

My favorite place at UW-P is the Student Center because you can see people you wouldn’t normally see throughout your day and  there’s a lot of fun things to do with your friends or peers.

Description: asia.jpgASIA OADDAMS
Hometown: Chicago, IL
Hey this is Asia Oaddams I am Junior in the Fall of 2012 majoring in Criminal Justice. I am from Chicago Illinois. I enjoy shopping and talking on the phone.

My favorite place to be on campus is my dorm room because I love to listen to music and study in there.

Description: Hannah's ROAR photo.jpgHANNAH ROSZKOWSKI
Hometown: Racine, WI
My name is Hannah Roszkowski and I will be a junior in the fall of 2013. I aspire to be a biology major with a focus in pre-dental and a studio art minor. I am an avid member of the Pre-Health Club, co-host a radio show on the university radio station, and am a First Year Experience Peer Mentor, in addition to being a ROAR leader. I am from Racine, WI and commute to school every day. When I am not at school, I am either working at my family dentist office, as a receptionist, or spending time with my family and friends.

My favorite place on campus is the University radio station, WIPZ. It is located in the Student Center, which is next to the Brickstone. Co-hosting a radio show is one of my creative outlets. My co-host and I tell jokes, facts, and discuss current events. It is a place I can be myself and entertain people at the same time.

Description: vara SMALL.jpgHILLARY VARA
Hometown: Wind Lake, WI
I am a sophomore at UW-P majoring in Pre-Health with a concentration in Occupational Therapy. I love my family and friends! It’s great living close to home and being able to not miss a beat: traveling, playing with my black lab Ruby, and being a volunteer at All Saints Healthcare. I just love to experience new things!

I really enjoy being a Parkside Ranger because it has really given me a positive, uplifting, beautiful environment that is full of opportunities to find myself. It has also helped me reach my full potential to capture my goals and grasp my dreams. The professors here are very kind and the classes are small.  You are encouraged to push yourself and faculty members are willing to supply extra time to help you succeed.

My favorite place at UW-P is Ranger Hall. The people you go to college with soon turn into your family away from home! A lot of memories have been made with many more to come. The late night pizza parties, study sessions and talks will never be forgotten and only continue with more friends!

Description: Cedrina.jpgCEDRINA WASHINGTON
Hometown: Waukegan, IL
My name is Cedrina Washington and I am currently a college senior with a major in Criminal Justice at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. I like to engage in extracurricular organizations on campus such as Greeks At Parkside, Black Student Union, First Year Experience, Campus Ambassador, and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, along with keeping up on academics.

My favorite spot on campus is the couch in the commons of the Office of Multicultural Students Affairs. In between classes, when I need to catch a break, that couch always becomes handy!
