Phi Eta Sigma is a campus-wide academic honor society installed in April 2003 at UW-Parkside. Phi Eta Sigma honors the academic performance of student in their first year and encourages continued academic excellence. Students are invited to join on the basis of specific criteria, including full-time status (excluding academic skill courses), degree-seeking, and achieving a 3.5 grade point average during one semester of their first year.
UW-Parkside is the 345th chapter of this national honor society ( www.phietasigma.org ), which started in 1923 and is one of the oldest scholastic honor societies in the country. Local chapters are student-led with several faculty advisors.
Members of the University of Wisconsin-Parkside Phi Eta Sigma are inducted at beginning of their sophomore year. There is a small membership fee which covers the cost of: an academic key or tie tac, membership certificate, and a copy of the national magazine, Forum of Phi Eta Sigma.

A national scholarship program, which awards approximately $200,000 each year to deserving applicantsâ€”Five or more $5,000 graduate scholarships; thirty or more $3,000 undergraduate scholarships; and seventy or more $1,000 undergraduate awards.
A $10,000 Scholar-Leader of The Year Award chosen from the pool of scholarship applicants.
A certificate and golden key of membership.
