How do I register for the program?

Incoming UW-Parkside first year students who welcome the opportunity to form a mentoring relationship with an experienced upper-class student are encouraged to apply for a mentor.

There are two ways to apply:

1. Register for ACSK 120, Intro to Critical Thinking during “Ranger Days Orientation” which occurs during the summer. Students who register for the class will be guaranteed a mentor.

2. Visit the FYE website: www.uwp.edu keyword: FYE or ( http://uwp.edu/cgi/remark/3/rws3.pl?FORM=PMR )to

complete an application. A limited number of applications are accepted through this process. Once students have completed the application, an email will be sent to confirm or deny their application.

What is required of the mentee?

First Year Students who participate in the FYE Mentor program are required to:

1) Attend all classes.

2) Meet with their mentor a minimum of twice a week.

3) Complete a relationship contract with their mentor during the first week of class.

4) Attend a welcome social with mentees and mentors on September 5, 2008

5) Complete monthly short term goal setting sheets with their mentor.
