John distributed information regarding the 2009-10 Lab Mod proposals. There are two different scenarios – the first one includes a new classroom/computer lab for School of Business and Technology (SBT) students ($76,000), and the second one does not. Fred Ebeid spoke about the need for a new classroom/computer lab for students in SBT. The computer lab currently used by MIS is not large enough to accommodate all of the students, and is too large for everyone to see what the instructor is doing. The plan being put forward is to move the SEG Center to MOLN D129. In MOLN D129 partitions could be installed. Then MOLN D112 and 114 could be used for a new computer lab There was also discussion regarding the implication of requiring students to use personal laptops in the future.

If the scenario is chosen which includes the new classroom/computer lab, there are a number of other items which will not be able to be funded. If the scenario is chosen that does not include the computer lab all of the remaining items will probably be able to be funded.

The committee decided to postpone a decision on this matter until Dean Ebeid has had time to consult with others in the School of Business and Technology. The committee did approve the prioritization of the first four items on the list, since they are common to both scenarios:

The committee approved that modifications be made to WYLL D175 – in concept

Steve Waller spoke regarding the trash cans that have been purchased for use by the Residence Halls. The trash cans that have been purchased for use by Residence Life take into account both the look of the receptacle, and also the ease of use for the custodians.

There was some discussion, and definite names are needed by January 2009.

John reported that the Comm Arts Building Committee will be meeting on Monday. The residence hall is on schedule. The new shed is also on schedule – and it will start to be used in the Spring. The Student Center is also on schedule.

Parking Lots. There was discussion regarding the possibility of building the WYLL lot in the Summer of 2009, allowing construction of only a portion of the Comm Arts lot.

Respectfully submitted,
