RADIATION SAFETY COMMITTEE
Meeting of: May 1, 2008

PRESENT: Steve Carlson (Chair), Jolene Wall, Paul Mohazzabi, Daphne Pham
ABSENT : Tsun Mei Chang, Chris Evans, Ed Wallen

Minutes of November 30, 2007 were approved as submitted.

Current approved user list : No changes since May meeting.

Contamination/Compliance Surveys and Status : A quarterly survey was conducted April 21, 2008 and some minor deficiencies were noted. Three survey areas needed re-cleaning and retesting. All have been completed and corrected.

Waste Storage and Waste Log: The waste log is up to date. Containers of decayed waste were removed from the radioactive waste storage area in April.

Training Status: Training is up to date for current users. Classes will continue to be offered to faculty and students at the beginning of each semester. Faculty should contact Carlson if they have students that need training outside the regularly scheduled training dates.

2007 Annual Program Review . The review found no deficiencies.

X-Ray Spectrometer-registration and training status : No changes.

Additional Topics : Committee members were reminded to contact the committee chair immediately should a state inspector arrive on campus.

Wrap up and action plan : There were no ideas requiring follow up.

The meeting was adjourned at approximately 12:12 pm.
