Minutes of the Radiation Safety Committee
for November 30, 2007

1. PRESENT: Steve Carlson (Chair), Jolene Wall, Tsun Mei Chang, Paul Mohazzabi, Chris Evans, Ed Wallen Daphne Pham

   ABSENT :

   Minutes of May 3, 2007 were approved as submitted.

   Current approved user list : No changes since May meeting.

   Contamination/Compliance Surveys and Status : A quarterly survey was conducted November 19, 2007 and some minor deficiencies were noted. Two survey areas needed re-cleaning and retesting and monthly surveys in one lab needed to be posted. All have been completed and corrected.

   Waste Storage and Waste Log: The waste log is up to date. Containers of decayed waste were removed from the radioactive waste storage area in November.

   Survey Instrument Calibration Status : The annual survey instrument was calibrated at UWM in July, 2007.

   Training Status: Training is up to date for current users. Classes will continue to be offered to faculty and students at the beginning of each semester.

   X-Ray Spectrometer-registration and training status : The annual X-ray device registration renewal was received. Chris Evans indicated the renewal fee has been submitted.

   Additional Topics : Committee members were reminded to contact the committee chair immediately should a state inspector arrive on campus.

   Wrap up and action plan : There were no ideas requiring follow up.

   The meeting was adjourned at approximately 12:29 pm.
