The State of Wisconsin expects "that the public is entitled to the fullest and most complete information regarding the affairs of government…"
Generally speaking, all information related to the conduct of university business is considered public except for information or documents exempted in section 19.85 of the Open Meeting Law, such as:
All Freedom oflnformation (FOI) or Wisconsin Open Records Law (WORL) requests are to be forwarded immediately to the Assistant Chancellor for University Relations and Advancement for proper action. The Assistant Chancellor for University Relations and Advancement will supply or coordinate, with the appropriate departments, the requested information or the reason why the requested information carmot be provided.
The Assistant Chancellor for University Relations and Advancement is designated as the official legal custodian of all public records maintained at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, with the exception of patient health records that are under the control of the University Student Health and Counseling Center or any other health care provider associated with the University in accordance with confidentiality laws and other legal requirements.
All subpoenas issued shall be forwarded to the Chancellor's Office. All notices of investigation or audit requests sent to the University or a University department must be forwarded immediately to the Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration for action. The Senior Internal Auditor will coordinate the audit between the external agency and the University department under review.
Campuses of the University of Wisconsin System have normal office hours of7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on weekdays with the exception of legal holidays. If a search for the requested records is necessary, the requester will be notified within 10 working days as required by Wisconsin Open Records Law or Freedom of Information Law.
Charges: Current campus charges for copying will apply in addition to mailing or delivery costs. The requester of records will be advised that there may be additional monetary charges for the actual, necessary, and direct costs oflocation and securing of the records.
