Minutes of the Academic Achievement Assessment Committee
for January 27, 2003

The Academic Achievement Assessment Committee met on Monday, January 27th at 3:30 in MOLN 236. Present were Sue Norton (chair), Tim Fossum, Jane Pinnow, Mary Kay Schleiter, and Bill Blanchard.

The chair discussed the upcoming NCA campus visit, scheduled for the week of February 3rd. Further information about the visit and any role AAAC members can play will be provided this week.

The committee also discussed the ongoing departmental visits. Thus far, for the 2002-2003 academic year, the AAAC chair and the dean of Arts & Sciences have met with the following departments: HPEA, Mathematics, Psychology, Economics, Criminal Justice, and Sociology/Anthropology. The committee agreed that this process is a valuable way to monitor assessment efforts and also to provide support for those efforts. Ideally, about 10 departments or programs will be selected every year for assessment visits.
The chair also greatly appreciates the cooperation and hard work of faculty.
