Minutes of the Academic Policies Committee
for October 8, 2001

The Academic Policies Committee was called to order Monday, October 8, in CA 136, at 12:05 P.M. by E. Zepp, Chair. Also attending were members A. Crist, D. Devinny, L. Gellott, R. Lott, M. Power, D. Olsen, and L. White (replacing W. Feldt who resigned from the committee).

1) The minutes of the meeting of Sept. 19th were approved.

2) Out-dated or non-existent policy for various matters relating to academic actions was discussed. The Chair agreed to formulate the concerns discussed and to invite one or more members of AAC to attend the next APC meeting.

3) Requests for APC to consider:

a) Lisa Johnson: are there standards for how many hours a discussion and/or lab section has to meet and how many credits it could be worth?
b) L. Duetsch for University Committee: whether guidelines can be establsihed for the types of courses which would be most suitable for the compressed Winterim timetable.
