OLD BUSINESS
2. Review of proposal to add a member of the Teaching Academic Staff to grade appeals committee when the grade in question was assigned by a TAS member.
Chris Zanowski and the ASC agreed to the proposal as submitted to them on Feb. 4 by APC. In the meantime, University Committee countered with the suggestion that, rather than SUBSTITUTING a TAS member for a faculty member a TAS member be ADDED to the grade appeal committee: i.e. three faculty members, one TAS, and a student. This has the advantage of keeping a faculty majority on the committee and, APC noted, giving an odd number, thus preventing a tie.
Laura Gellott will submit this idea to Chris Zanowski and the ASC. If they agree, we will forward the matter to UC and the Senate.
[Chris Zanowski consulted ASC members and they agree.]
3. Walter Feldt sent word that he had not yet heard back from Ron Singer, UWS, re: questions on revision of the Academic Calendar. This matter was tabled until the next meeting.
4. Incomplete Policy. APC approved a motion that PSF 19, approved 2/13/01 be amended as follows:
Strike Para. 2, which allows for a request for an incomplete to be initiated by the instructor on behalf of / without the knowledge of the student.
Para. 3: Substitute the word "However" for "Normally" at the start of the second sentence, para. 3.
