Annual Report 2002-2003

The Athletic Board met a total of seven times during 2002-2003. The principal issues examined were:

1) Eligibility and being able to practice - ineligible athletes are not allowed to practice unless a successful appeal to the Board is made.

2) Scheduling of athletic contests at the end of the semester and during final exams.

3) Retaining athletic financial aid at mid-year.

4) 5 percent budget cut exercise - contingency plans to handle a significant cut to the Athletic Department budget.

5) Budget request to SUFAC.

6) Academic performance of student athletes - UWP student athletes are doing well.

7) Membership in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.

8) Evaluation of coaches - refining the process and reviewing the evaluations

9) Budget plans to handle the actual 8 percent cut in funds.
