The following were items that the Committee on Academic Planning dealt with the past academic year:
The Program Appraisal Framework was restructured and distributed to all academic departments and programs. The Committee reviewed the PAFs that were returned to gain insight into the curricular and programmatic thinking of the various units.
The committee approved the degree in Management Information Systems forwarded by the Business Department. The Board of Regents later approved the major.
A series of protocols for Program Reviews were agreed upon and sent to the Deans to give to units who are preparing their reports. The Program Reviews of the following were evaluated with comments passed on to the Departments and Deans:
CAP Approved two new options for students. A certificate in Mental Health through the Psychology Department and an MBA through the University of Wisconsin Graduate Business Consortium (Parkside, Eau Claire, LaCrosse and Oshkosh).
The Committee attempted to resolve issues of course conflicts between the Political Science and Law Department and the Criminal Justice Department. This brought up the problem of different departments teaching similar themes and concepts. No formal decision was made but the Committee felt this matter should be looked into further.
Ten Position Allocation Requests were reviewed and ranked with recommendations forwarded to the Administration.
