Minutes of the Committee on Academic Planning
May 7, 2007

 

Present: Doug DeVinny,  Stephen Hawk, Peggy James, George Li, John Longeway, Rebecca McBurney, Anne Statham, Susan Takata   Excused: Jo-Ann Goodyear

 

Invited Guests:  Andrew Brunner, Alexander Lichtman, Jerry Greenfield. 

Visitor: Dennis Kaufman

 

The meeting was called to order at 3:35 p.m. by Takata. 

Minutes of April 30, 2007 were approved with corrections.

 

Announcements

 

Takata distributed the materials from the Psychology Department.

 

Mathematics Departmental Program Review 

 

Andrew Brunner and Alexander Lichtman attended the meeting to answer questions that the committee members had. Much of the discussion focused on the self-study template and the department’s need of faculty members.

 

At 4:05 pm, Lichtman and Brunner left the meeting.

 

PARS

 

Takata distributed an updated version of the 2007 PAR rankings incorporating all the feedback received.  Further discussion of the rankings were discussed.

 

At 4:30 p.m., Jerry Greenfield joined the meeting.  Takata gave Greenfield a draft copy of CAP’s rankings with the understanding that a finalized version will be sent to him soon. There was a question-and-answer period between members of CAP and Greenfield. Greenfield explained the administrative perspective.

 

Greenfield left the meeting at 5:09 pm.

 

CAP continued to discuss the PAR ranking.

 

PSYCH Department Program Review

 

Members of CAP decided that the PSYCH Department Program review materials distributed at the beginning of the meeting be returned and to be placed on the agenda in the Fall.  

Special Acknowledgements
 

Takata recognized and thanked  Peggy James and George Li for their work on the committee. James completed her term on CAP while Li will be on sabbatical next year. New members joining CAP will be Joy Wolf and Dean Yohnk.

 

James acknowledged the work of Rebecca McBurney, the student representative on the committee.

 

Meeting adjourned at 5:19 p.m.
