Minutes of the Course and Curriculum Committee
for February 21, 2001

Present: M. Gurtman (Chair), P. James, R. Lott, M. Mullen, E. Wilson. Absent: D. Bayuzick

The meeting convened at 2:03 pm.

Minutes of the meeting of 2/14 were accepted, without modification.

T. Sunstrom (DRAM) joined the meeting at 2 pm to discuss the Drama proposals. A. McNair (SPAN) joined the meeting at 2 pm to discuss the Spanish certificate proposal.

The Chair indicated that he had received a memo from G. Wood (Chair, CAP) confirming that the HPEA concentrations had been approved. The Chair also related that T. Fossum (Chair, CSCI) had forwarded a copy of the Web Certificate catalog description.

The Committee acted to change the frequency of CRMJ 305 (previously approved in principle) to "occasionally," since summer offerings cannot be guaranteed. Based on conversation with L. Ross, prereqs were added.

The following were approved, as noted:
· DRAM 285, 325, 425.
· Certificate in Spanish for Professionals. The Committee worked with A. McNair to revise the description. A. McNair will bring proposed changes back to the department, which will then craft the (presumed) final description and resubmit it to the Chair for review. The description is attached. (The description appears acceptable, but please review.)
· GEOL 440

The committee has no plans to meet again until new business is proposed. This ends consideration of business for the new catalog.

The meeting adjourned at 3:10 pm, with a great hurrah.
