Minutes of the Course and Curriculum Committee
for September 26, 2003

Present: M. Gurtman (Chair), L. McCann, L. Moeller, E. Wilson, J. Wolf. Absent: M. Mullen

The meeting convened at 1:05 pm. Minutes from the meeting of 9/26 were approved without change.

The Committee discussed title changes to ENGL courses that appeared in the catalog without prior review by CCC. Such changes, though appearing in the catalog, are not recorded in the system without official action by CCC. The chair will send an email to department chairs to remind them of the importance of submitting even minor changes for review. L. Moeller will contact ENGL to have forms for the modified courses submitted.

The chair discussed his meeting with the Academic Staff Committee. Approval for the proposed restructuring is still pending.

The Committee approved the proposed change to HIST 250, following L. Gellott’s specification of the course prerequisites.

The Committee approved the proposed credit change for GEOG 490.

The Committee approved credit change to HPEA 450, contingent on resolution of two issues: (1) contact hours, (2) rationale (now missing).

The Committee tabled the MATH 331 proposal. A. Lichtman will be invited to answer questions at a meeting, October 31.

The Committee will meet on October to consider proposals from PHIL. J. Longeway will be invited.

PSYC 331 received final approval, as no objections were raised by members of the PSYC department.

The Committee will meet again on Friday, October 24 at 1 pm in MOLN 275A. The meeting adjourned at 2:10 pm. (J. Wolf left the meeting for class at 2 pm.)

Respectfully Submitted,

Michael Gurtman
