Minutes of the Committee on Research & Creative Activity
for November 19, 2003

The Meeting was called to order at 12:05 by S. Haller. Present: F. Akindes, S. Beyer, S. Haller, X. Li, T. Spring, J. Wolf. Absent: D. Bayuzik

1. Approval of 11/07/03 Minutes Approved (6,0,0)

Before considering proposals, the committee fell into a discussion of the rate at which CRCA is spending its funds for the 2003-2004 year. The committee decided to ask Mary Tremmel to provide the following information: the date of each CRCA meeting and for each date, the number of proposals reviewed and the amount of funding awarded. If possible, CRCA wants this information for the last five years excluding last year which was unusual because of the travel freeze. The committee will try to use this information to forecast the requests for the rest of the fiscal year and budget accordingly.

2. The committee considered the following proposals:

Herb Colston: Conference travel for presentation, Vancouver, Canada, funded for $264.
Tsun-Mei Chang: Conference travel for presentation, Philadelphi, PA, tabled until Chang can be contacted for more
detailed information about the conference and her travel expenses and documentation that her paper have been accepted.
Theresa Castor: Conference travel for presentation, Miami Beach, FL, funded for $348.
John Skalbeck: Conference travel for presentation, Miami Beach, FL, tabled until Skalbeck can be contacted for more detailed information about the conference and his travel expenses and documentation that his paper has been accepted.
Stuart Hansen: Conference travel for presentation, Norfolk, VA, funded for $410.
