Minutes of the Committee on Research and Creative Activity
for May 7, 2004

The Meeting was called to order at 12:05 by S. Haller
Present: S. Beyer, S. Haller, X. Li, F. Akindes, T. Reiter,
D. Bayuzik (12:20)
Absent: J. Wolf

1. Approval of 4/2/04 Minutes
Approved (5,0,0)

2. Because the following proposals involve activities before July 1, 2004,
they were given highest priority:

Susan Takata: Conference travel for presentation, Honolulu, HI,
funded for $500.

Siegfried Christoph: Conference travel to chair section, denied
because no research is being presented.

Michael Gurtman: Conference travel for presentation, Toronto, ON,
funded for $475.

Susan Takata: Conference travel for to co-chair session, denied
because no research is being presented.

3. The committee considered the following proposals for activities after
July 1, 2004. Funding is from this year's funds and must be spent before
July 1, 2004:

Andries Schutte: Conference travel for presentation, Beijing, China,
funded for $800.

Helen Rosenberg: Conference travel for presentation, San Francisco, CA,
funded for $400.

Zhaohui Li: Conference travel for presentation, Florence, Italy,
funded for $480.

Roby Rajan: Conference travel for presentation, Bangalore, India,
funded for $567.

4. The following proposals (all for activities after July 1, 2004) were
tabled and will be considered in the fall for funding from 2004-2005
CRCA funds:

Vera Kolb
Xun Wang
Andrew McLean
Carol Lee Saffioti-Hughes
Michele Gee
Herb Colston
Pat Goldsmith

5. The committee decided to meet Friday, May 14, 10AM in MOLN D135 to
consider the nominations for the Faculty Research and Creative Activity
award. S. Haller will copy and send out the applications to all CRCA
committee members.

The meeting adjourned at 1:25 PM
