CRCA began the year with $25,000. From this, 50 awards worth $25,000 were given. Awards ranged between $152 and $1,000, maintaining the ceiling of $1000. Forty seven awards were for conference presentations, either covering registration fees or travel. Other types of awards included purchase of research related supplies and equipment, research related travel, and student wages related to research projects.
Preference was given to junior faculty, with a higher percentage of their requests funded in comparison to tenured faculty. Eight proposals for activities after July 1, 2004 were tabled for consideration in the Fall 2004.
CRCA organized and held three research symposiums. The first event as in honor of the 2002-2003 Faculty Research Award recipient, Wendy Leeds-Hurwitz. This was held on Friday, Oct 17, 2003. The Fall Faculty Showcase was held on November 21, 2003 with presentations given by Sylvia Beyer, Rob Barber, and Susan Funkenstein. The Spring Showcase, held on February 26, featured talks by Yanick St. Jean, Timothy Fossum, and Megan Mullen.
Four nominations were received for the CRCA Research Award, which went to Professor Daphne Pham this year.
