Minutes of the Committee on Research and Creative Activity
March 24, 2006

 

The Meeting commenced at 12:10. Present: Holmes, Khan, Lincke, Li, and Sasso.

1. The minutes of January 27 and February 24 are approved.

2. The date and time of the second CRCA showcase is finalized. The Galbreith room is reserved for April 7, at 3:30 pm. The committee agreed that if one speaker becomes unavailable the showcase will go with the other two.

3. Time table for selection of CRCA award was discussed. The deadline for nomination was set on March 31. We give 2 weeks of time for the nominees to provide further supporting documents and one more week for the committee members plus the two past CRCA awardees to review the files.

4. The following proposals were examined, discussed, and funded in the following order (in
order of receipt):

Theresa Castor – proposal was re-discussed. The committee debated whether her presentation was related to her research or pedagogical activity, whether she should seek further support from teaching center. The committee decided to put the proposal to the end of the meeting pending on the availability of fund. As sufficient fund was still available, the committee agreed to award her $200.

Pat Goldsmith – conference travel $177
Rober Sasso – research $780
Susan Lincke – conference travel $200
Zhaohui Li – redirect $209 from a previous award of $315 for research related to two World Geoparks in central China

Roby Rajan – proposal was deferred till next year as the proposed activity falls into next fiscal year.

Next meeting was set on April 21 th at 12:00 pm.

The meeting adjourned at 1:25 PM.
