Minutes of the Committee on Research and Creative Activity
for March 5, 2007

The Meeting commenced at 12:10. Present: Christoph, Gurtman, Holmes, Lincke, Schmitt, Taylor. (Ed Schmitt replaces Farida Khan on Sabbatical.)

* Minutes of meeting on 11/27/06 and 1/29/07 were approved.

The following proposals were examined, discussed, and funded in the following order (in order of receipt):

The following proposals were tabled pending further information: Oko Elechi. Siegfried Christoph’s July applications could be carried either year, and thus were tabled pending further applications that can only be paid off this year.

* Our next meeting will be Monday, April 9, noon. Since the CRCA Research award nominations are due March 31st, it makes sense to select the winner at the next meeting. The last year’s winner is usually invited to participate in the election, but Joy Wolf may be out-of-town. We have two CRCA members (Gurtman, Evans) who submitted nominations for Research award candidates (Colston, Skalbeck). It makes sense to have people who can speak to the qualifications of the other nominees, who should be equally-well represented (currently Paul Mohazzabi, Leo Zaibert). We decided to invite outsiders, but did not name anyone in particular. Action item: Decide who specifically to ask and what their role is.
