The meeting commenced at 2:05 PM. Present: Baylor, Christoph, Gurtman, Lincke, Schmitt, Taylor. Visitors for the CRCA Research Winner election part of the meeting included Wendy Leeds-Hurwitz and Joy Wolf.
Five-minute presentations were made for each CRCA research award nominee when they were present. (Gurtman for Colston, Leeds-Hurwitz for Longeway, Wolf for Skalbeck). Herb Colston was selected as the CRCA Research Award winner for 2008.
Minutes of meeting on 3/28/08 were approved. It was reported that Folker, Skalbeck, and Wang had submitted proof of presentation for their conference travel, and thus CRCA funding letters had been sent to them. MacWilliams had not yet provided proof and thus her CRCA funding letter was not yet sent.
Proposals started in previous meetings were discussed:
Farida Khan had reported that she had changed her mind about going to Torino, and instead had decided to attend the conference at Harvard. She also had submitted proof of presentation. We decided to fund her $640, revoking the $430 for Torino.
Fay Akindes application had the missing budget, and she was funded for $640 conference travel.
Joy Wolf’s FASPOF application had been turned down due to no funds. Since she had not depleted her CRCA funds, her previous CRCA application was amended and she was awarded an additional $146.
The following new proposals were examined, discussed, and funded:
Theresa Castor: $454 conference travel.
Ed Schmitt: $575 research travel
John Longeway: $640 conference travel
Weijun Zheng: $1000 conference travel
Carole Vopat: $640 conference travel
Maria del Carmen Martinez: $1000 research travel
Alice Chang: $440 research funding
Patricia Cleary: $200 for research funding
Seif Da’Na: $1000 conference travel (to be taken from the remainder of this year’s budget and part of next year’s budget).
With all money spent, applications from those who had previously received their full funding for the year, or had submitted to CRCA well after the conference trip, were turned down: James Crowley, Cathy Folker, Siegfried Christoph.
The meeting ended at 3:55 PM.
