The meeting started at 2:09 p.m.
Main agenda item: the Fall Mini-Conference on Teaching and Learning on Friday, Nov. 16, in Union 104-6.
Jerry reported on the RSVPs: 33 faculty and staff have confirmed their participation. No administrators have indicated their attendance. Committee members were encouraged to recruit faculty, particularly those new to Parkside. Fay will also email the governance with a reminder RSVPs will be taken until Friday, when catering needs its order.
Bill Blanchard, director of Institutional Research and Assessment Services, circulated handouts of his presentation including research data from a Parkside study conducted by Larry Duetsch and the National Survey of Student Engagement.

Small groups (six members + facilitator) will be designated by color coded name tags. Penny volunteered to color code name tags. Committee members and Larry Duetsch will facilitate small-group discussions.
Conference packet will include: agenda, highlights from Bill's Powerpoint presentation, suggested questions to consider, and copies of Scholarship of Teaching and Learning articles.
Al and Bill left the meeting.
COTL members approved the minutes from the last meeting.
COTL members ranked and reviewed two OPID grant proposals from Parkside faculty: #1 Z. "George" Li, #2 Helen Rosenberg
Fay will notify each of the project investigators, as well as Vice Provost Ken Watters and grant writer Nina Smith of the Committee's recommendations.
