Minutes of the Committee on Teaching & Learning
for February 11, 2004

The Committee on Teaching and Learning met on February 11 at 12:00. Members present: Olsen, Shailor, Zanowski, Kavenik, Statham.

1) Fay Akindes, Chair of Ethnic Studies, spoke with the committee about co-sponsoring the annual Spring Teaching and Learning Conference, with a focus on diversity in the classroom. The committee agreed that this could be a fruitful collaboration. It was decided that Prof. Akindes would report to CoTL at its next meeting on the status of planning for the
Spring conference.

2) The Committee discussed Parkside's representation at the upcoming OPID conference in Madison, April 13-14. It was decided to issue a call for interested participants over the governance list.

3) The Committee discussed the position description for the director of the Teaching Center. After several minor changes to the position description, the document will be sent to Rebecca Martin for approval and discussion.

3) The committee set the agenda for its next meeting on March 3. Agenda items will include planning for the Spring conference

The committee adjourned at 1:00.
