Attendees:  Lori Allen, Mary Louise Edwards, Chris Evans, Duane Johnson, DeAnn Possehl, Terrence Shaw, Christine Tutlewski, Dean Yohnk and Leo Zaibert

Absent (excused):  Seif Dana, Damian Evans, Michael Gurtman, Maria Martinez and Theron Snell

Note:  Seif Dana – personal matters. Damian Evans - orientation for OMSA.  Michael Gurtman - doctoral defense.  Maria Martinez - conference.  Theron Snell – student advising appointments.

A committee chair was not available.  Lori agreed to consult with the others and to serve as interim, pending approval by UC, until a chair could be found.

The schedule for Ranger Welcome was shared with everyone agreeing to push participation.

The Committee decided to continue the subgroup associated with orientation events so that these groups would not lose valuable planning time pending the assessment of Ranger Welcome 2007 and the permission to plan Welcome 2008.

The subgroup for the Success Academy shared their thoughts regarding the possible two-semester sequence for these students.

Fall (12 credits):  ACSK 083, ACSK 090, MATH (ACSK 010, 015 or MATH 111), Success Seminar.  The success seminar needs to be ranked at 2-credits which will require action by the General Education Committee if offered as GNED 101.  The General Education Committee also expressed the desire that seminar be taught by faculty, ABD or better which would limit the possible instructor pool.  There was some discussion about an embedded format similar to what was described by Jay Chaskes, mini-conference speaker.

Spring (12 credits):  ENGL 100, MATH, Success Seminar, GNED elective
