Minutes of the General Education Committee
for February 23, 2004


Attending: Lori Allen, Erika Behling, Susan Haller, Farida Khan, Frances Kavenik, Sue Norton, Evelyn Zepp, Geoffrey Skoll, Carmel Ruffolo

Minutes of February 16 were approved, with corrections.

Susan put PSYC 101 at the top of the agenda for discussion. Still needs work and a syllabus. Tabled. Susan will contact PSYC again.

Susan, Lori, and Frances will be meeting with Trudy Biehn, of Teacher Education, and Dean Cress on Thursday, February 24, in the Teacher Ed conference room. Anyone else from the Committee who wishes to may attend.

Other courses dealt with:

COMM 107, tabled for lack of a syllabus (Lori will talk to Jonathan Shailor)

MUS 206: tabled for lack of a syllabus, otherwise ok; clarify why 207 is included

MUS 102: approved, with corrections ($200)

HUMA 252: approved, with minor corrections ($200)

PHYS 105: approved, with minor corrections ($200)

PHYS 110: approved, with minor corrections ($50)

PHYS 201: approved, with minor corrections ($200)

PHYS 202: approved, with minor corrections ($50)

GEOS 101: approved, with changes (summer money)

GEOS 103, approved with minor changes

GEOS 108: approved, with minor changes ($150 for both)

SOCA 207: tabled, with problems (Susan will talk to George Wang)

Still coming: 4 HIST courses, GSCI 205, 206; GEOS 100; PHYS 100, WOMS 110

MATH continues to be unresponsive. Carmel volunteered to convene the group of chairs of affected departments (CHEM, BIOS, CS) along with the Dean (both deans?) to get results.

Next meeting will be next Wednesday, March 2 at 9:00 in CART 233, at which time we expect the “new green sheet” to be completed and subsequently sent to the Registrar and Advising.
