for October 1, 2003

Call to Order:

The meeting was called to order at 12:10 PM by Prof Frances Kavenik, Convenor. Present in addition were C. Evans, W. Leeds-Hurwitz, P. Lyter, J. McKeever, P. Mohazzabi, R. Rajan, H. Rosenberg, and R. Walasek, members; and Prof Walter Feldt, Secretary of the Faculty.

Business:

Election of Chair

Prof Frances Kavenik was elected chair by acclamation.

Schedule of Meetings

The Committee reviewed the meeting and due dates used in 2002-03 and made some adjustments due to members' schedules... PRC meetings and due dates were scheduled as follows (all in Moln D135) ...

Informative Session

It was agreed to have an informative session for interested parties, primarily candidates for tenure or promotion, and department
chairs and executive committee members of departments who will be considering candidates for tenure or promotion.

The session was scheduled for Wednesday, October 22, at noon at a location to be determined.

Change to Guidelines

In response to a suggestion by Dean Cress, it was agreed to modify the PRC Guidelines (http://uwp.edu/staff/gov/faccom/prc/prcadvice.cfm) to make it clear that the executive committee recommendation should note any significant minority opinion. Furthermore, executive committee members in the minority may submit their viewpoint in writing, The candidate and the chair may enter a response. Forty-eight hours before the inception of the evidentiary meeting, submissions will no longer be allowed. An exception is that significant new developments (e.g. acceptance of a paper) are
always allowed anytime during the process.
