Checklist for Full Professor Candidates

2009-2010

Dossier (Submit 8 copies to the Secretary of the Faculty)

File (one copy to Secretary of the Faculty)

Overview

Overview

1.1 Departmental policy on full professor promotion criteria

1.2 Cover letter from the full professor subcommittee (normally composed by the chair but approved by the executive committee) summarizing candidate’s record in teaching, scholarly activity, and service, including the committee’s evaluation of the work in each area. Must include names of members of full professor subcommittee present at the meeting, and numeric vote.

1.21 Optional: in cases where the vote is split or the full professor subcommittee is not unanimous in backing the support letter as written by the chair, letters from other members of the full professor subcommittee may be submitted. Each member has the right to submit a separate filing, but the candidate has the right to respond to any negative filing. The PRC full professor subcommittee will set a cut-off date for submission of these letters.

1.3 Candidate’s curriculum vita containing formal collegiate and post-graduate education, including institutions attended, locations, dates of attendance, degrees or other certification received, and dates of receipt of degrees and employment history (in reverse chronological order) including employers, locations, dates, titles and responsibilities. State year granted tenure. List evidence of work since tenure, including list of courses taught, publications or other scholarly or creative activity, service activities, awards and honors.

1.4 Five years of the candidate’s merit ratings. State how often the department prepares merit reviews. For each rating, include the departmental range (low and high scores) and average for that rating period. Analyze the candidate’s ratings in comparison to his/her colleagues.

Technical notes: All materials submitted in the file must be mentioned in the dossier. Use tabs to divide the major sections. Consult the AACSU document, “The Core of Academe,” for assistance in categorizing the candidate’s accomplishments. See http://uwp.edu/staff/gov/faccom/prc/AASCU.cfm

*Number of dossier copies required = number of FPS members + 3.
