The Personnel Review Committee met on Thursday, June 25, 2009 in Molinaro Hall, room D135 for the deliberative phase of the consideration of Dr. Esther Beneish for tenure.
Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 2:20 p.m. by Rich Walasek, Chair. Committee members present were Fay Akindes, Herb Colston, Karen Crooker, Michael Gurtman, James Kinchen, Mary Lenard and Daphne Pham. Gary Wood was present as Secretary of the Faculty.
Approval of Minutes
Minutes from the meeting of June 11, 2009 were approved as distributed.
Amendment to PRC Procedures
RESOLVED, that for the purpose of considering the tenure case of Esther Beneish, the requirement that the candidate meet with two members of the Personnel Review Committee during her campus visit from section 5.3.2(b) of the Personnel Review Committee procedures is waived.
James noted that the committee should reexamine this requirement to determine if it is really necessary.
The resolution passed on a voice vote.
Review of Candidate for Tenure
A motion was made to conduct the remainder of the meeting in closed session as provided in Wis. Stat. 19.85(1)(b). The motion passed and the meeting moved into closed session
The following resolution was on the table.
RESOLVED, that the Personnel Review Committee recommends that Dr. Esther Beneish be granted tenure.
The resolution was approved on a vote of 8 yes, 0 no and 0 abstentions.
