Minutes of the Personnel Review Committee
Full Professor Subcommittee (FPS)
for February 21, 2003

Call To Order - The meeting was called to order by Prof Frances Kavenik, Convenor. Present in addition were Profs Frank Egerton, James McKeever and Paul Mohazzabi, members, and Prof Walter Feldt, Secretary of the Faculty. Prof Carole Vopat was excused.

Election of Chair - Prof Feldt resigned his membership on the PRC and FPS when he assumed the duties of Secretary of the Faculty. The University Committee designated Prof Kavenik as the convenor and temporary chair for both groups.

Prof Kavenik was elected Chair of the FPS by acclamation.

Motion to Convene into Closed Session - Wisconsin Statutes provide that personnel-related meetings be closed, with some exceptions. Also UWPF 6.11 provides an open meeting option for candidates for promotion to the rank of professor. In this case, the candidate did not opt for open sessions as offered in UWPF 6.11.

Prof McKeever moved, seconded, that the FPS convene into closed session, pursuant to Wis Stats 19.85 (1)(b) and (c), to discuss a recommendation for promotion to the rank of professor. APPROVED 4-0-0.

Report - At the conclusion of the closed session, there was no report.

Adjournment - The meeting adjourned at 2:47 PM
