Minutes of the University Committee
For November 6, 2000

The Committee met at 12:35 in 262 CART. Members present were John Buenker, Walter Feldt, Laura Gellott, Fran Kavenik, Greg Mayer, and Carol Lee Saffioti- Hughes. Also present was Larry Duetsch.

The Committee discussed ways of obtaining community input during the Provost search and screen process. There was agreement that this can and should be done without adding adding members to the search committee. Professor Gellott will discuss this matter with Chancellor Keating.

The Committee identified a faculty nominee for a seat on the facilities committee that is being created for the Sports and Activities Center.

The Committee briefly discussed student concerns about the required use of Social Security numbers on examinations that are processed in the Computer Center. Professor Saffioti-Hughes said that the matter will be taken up by the Committee on Admissions, Records, and Student Information, with input from the Dean of Students.

Finally, the Committee unanimously approved the roster of December 2000 graduates that will soon be certified by the Registrar.
