The Committee met at 2:05 in D135 MOLN. Members present were John Buenker, Peggy
James, James Kinchen, Don Kummings, Greg Mayer, and Gary Wood. Also present
was Larry Duetsch.
The Committee gave final approval to the agenda for the October 29 meeting of the Faculty Senate. It was agreed that motions involving approval of more than one certificate/concentration should be divided, so that discussion remains focused.
The Committee reviewed and approved a letter to area legislators that calls attention to the continuing lack of affordable health insurance options for State employees who live in Kenosha and Racine counties.
The Committee continued its discussion of the criteria for the Faculty Distinguished Service Award, after first reviewing/comparing the criteria for the teaching/CRCA awards. It was agreed that the criteria for each of these awards should be more thoroughly reexamined before a recommendation is developed for the Senate.
The Committee discussed preliminary drafts of a survey of faculty (and instructional academic staff) perceptions of administrative performance (in relation to the chancellor and the deans). Extensive revisions were tentatively agreed to and these will be incorporated into the drafts before discussion is continued at the next meeting.
The Committee reviewed and approved a recommendation from Dean Cress that the Science & Technology Education Center be renamed the Center for Science Education. Since this was the name the Senate had originally given the Center, it was agreed that the matter should be regarded as editorial and no further action should be required.
The meeting was adjourned at 3:30.
