Minutes of the University Committee
for October 27, 1999

The Committee met at 8:35 in 262 CART. Members present were Walter Feldt, Laura Gellott. Fran Kavenik, James Kinchen, Carol Saffioti-Hughes, and Lee Van Dyke. Also present were Don Cress, Larry Duetsch, and John Ostheimer.

At the request of Provost Ostheimer, the Committee discussed a personnel matter with the Provost and Dean Cress. At the end of that discussion, the Provost and the Dean left the meeting. No action was taken.

The Committee prepared the agenda for the Faculty Senate meeting on November 2. It was agreed that prior to that meeting the Committee on Health, Safety, and the Physical Environment would be asked to provide data regarding the incidence of crime on campus and an account of its involvement with the weapons policy.

The Committee prepared a slate of nominees for election to the Committee on Advising and designated appointees to fill vacant seats on the Academic Achievement Assessment Committee and the Committee on Health, Safety, and the Physical Environment.

The meeting adjourned at 10:15.
