The Faculty Senate of the University of Wisconsin-Parkside will meet Tuesday, October 14, 2003 at 3:30 PM in Molinaro Hall D137.

The University Committee has approved the following agenda:

Call to Order by Walter Feldt, temporary chair.

Election of a Chair

Under UWPF 1.07(1)(a), the first order of business each fall is the election of the Chair of the Senate for the Committee Year. The Secretary of the Faculty presides during that election.

Revision of Academic Forgiveness Policy – Academic Policies Committee

RESOLVED, that upon the recommendation of the Academic Policies Committee, the Academic Forgiveness Policy be amended as set forth in the attached document. Agenda document 17.
New Business

Resolution Regarding Health Insurance – University Committee
The University Committee recommends the following:

WHEREAS, the University of Wisconsin System stimulates the state's economy and provides invaluable resources and education statewide; and

WHEREAS, the tradition of excellent benefits for employees in the UW-System allows the UW to recruit and retain high quality employees, despite generally lower wages in comparison with the private sector; and

WHEREAS, the UW System is proposing to increase the portion of healthcare premiums paid by UW faculty and academic staff, effectively imposing a unilateral wage cut; and

WHEREAS, that increase imposes a special hardship on many lower paid employees of the UW System; therefore be it

RESOLVED, that the University of Wisconsin-Parkside Faculty Senate opposes the imposition of co-payments for health care beyond those that already exist.

Based on a resolution passed by the UW-Green Bay Faculty Senate.

Addition to UWPF 4.04 Regarding Vacancies due to Absences on Elected Faculty Committees – University Committee

RESOLVED, that upon the recommendation of the University Committee the addition of subcategory (e) be approved as set forth in the attached document. Agenda document 18.

Creation of the Teacher Preparation Steering Committee – Teacher Preparation Programs Work Group

RESOLVED, that upon the recommendation of the Teacher Preparation Programs Work Group, the Teacher Preparation Steering Committee be created as set forth in the attached document. Agenda document 19.

Administration of the Teacher Preparation Program – Teacher Preparation Programs Work Group

RESOLVED, that upon the recommendation of the Teacher Preparation Programs Work Group, the administrative structure as set forth in the attached document, be recommended to the administration. Agenda document 20.
