The members of the Committee for academic year 2005-2006 were Profs. L. Allen, N. Cloutier, D. Holmes, P. James, J. Longeway, G. Mayer (chair), D. Walter, and E. Zepp. Prof. Zepp resigned her membership after being appointed Secretary of the Faculty in Spring 2006.
The Committee met twice during the year, on 18 October 2005 and 4 May 2006. Profs. S. Christoph, D. Kaufman, and D. Rome, who had been appointed by the University Committee as members of the Committee under UWS 4.06(1)(d) and the applicable portion of UWPF 7.01(5)(c) for a hearing under UWS 4.04 held in academic year 2004-2005, were invited to the October meeting.
During the year, the Committee assisted interim Secretary of the Faculty Prof. W. Feldt (emeritus) in preparing records for transmittal to the Board of Regents, advised a faculty member concerning his rights under UWPF 6, prepared an analysis of the proposed UWS 7 at the request of the University Committee, and adopted a policy on files and records. The latter policy, appended below, was adopted in consultation with Ms. Robin Van Harpen, Esq., Senior University Legal Counsel and Interim Director of the UW-Milwaukee Office of Legal Affairs.

Files and Records Policy
(adopted 4 May 2006)
1. Access to and maintenance of records of the Committee shall be in accordance with all applicable Wisconsin state statutes (in particular Chap. 19.35) and the rules of the Board of Regents.
2. Except as provided for otherwise by state statute or Board rule, minutes of meetings held in closed session, reports of disciplinary matters, and materials protected by attorney/client privilege are available for inspection by members of the Committee pursuant to their duties, unless a member is or was a party to, or witness in, the case to which the records pertain.
3. ARecord@ as defined by Chap. 19.32(2) may differ from the Arecord@ of a hearing held under UWS 4.04. Access to materials will be determined by their status under applicable state statute and Board rule.
4. In providing access to and maintaining records, the Committee may seek the advice of the University of Wisconsin System Office of General Counsel, or, if appropriate, the counsel appointed under UWS 4.06(f).
