The Senate approved the following resolution:

 

UWS Chapter 7—University Committee

              Resolved, that upon the recommendation of the University Committee, the Faculty Senate approve the most current draft of Chapter 7 submitted by the Regents.

                                                                                                               

The Senate did not approve the following two resolution:

Criminal Background Check for Employment Implementation Policy—University Committee

              Resolved, that upon the recommendation of the University Committee, the Faculty Senate approve the draft of the UW-Parkside Criminal Background Check Policy.

                                                                                                 

 

Criminal Background Check for Employment—University Committee

              Resolved, that upon the recommendation of  the University Committee, the Faculty Senate approve the following system-wide resolution, using language recommending the broad policy change to require criminal background checks, plus the final paragraph, expressing the U.C.’s concern over the cost-factor involved in the policy. 

UW-Parkside recommends that the Board of Regents adopt a comprehensive policy requiring that all UW institutions conduct criminal background checks on new hires, and that each institution shall use its governance process to adopt criminal background check implementation policies and procedures, and that each institution will submit its plan to the UW System General Counsel and UW System Office of Human Resources for review and approval. 

UW-Parkside recommends that the cost incurred by these criminal background checks be absorbed by the UW-System budget.
