The Industry in a Growing
Profession:
The Sport and Fitness Industry has experienced dramatic growth over
the past twenty years. The need for expertise in sport and fitness
management has grown into a discipline where specialization exists in a
multidimensional
sense in the various areas of business, communications, and health-related
areas. Professional positions in this exciting area require that persons
are
trained and qualified in many areas such as programming, marketing, management,
communications, facility development, finance, economics, politics, and
legal
aspects. Indeed, the days are long gone where positions are filled
by happenstance or by virtue of simply liking sport and fitness.
The Majors at UW Parkside:
At the University of Wisconsin at Parkside, we believe we have created
a comprehensive curriculum that will serve both the students aspiring to
gain employment in sport and fitness professions and this vast industry.
