Membership Application
Introduction: (Please refer to the UW Parkside Sports & Activity
Center Handbook for more detailed information.)
The primary focus of the Sports and Activity Center (SAC) is to support
student instruction and activity. As a result, the hours of the facility
revolve around the academic calendar. Building hours are determined in accordance
with student demand.

Sports
and Activity Center Membership:
- To be
eligible to use the SAC, an individual must be a currently enrolled
full-time student at UW Parkside or purchase a membership card.
- Access
to the facilities requires the user to present a current RangerCard
or a SAC Building Use card upon entrance to the building.
- Cards
are not transferable and persons allowing use of it by others
will lose their card privilege.
- There
is a replacement card fee ($10.00) for any Building Use Cards lost or
stolen. Only one replacement card will be issued per member per year.
- Supervisory
staff make periodic checks of users and members may be requested to
show their card while inside. These checks serve to ensure members of
their privileges and services.
Membership Fees:
- None
of the membership rates include membership in the Wellness Center. Wellness
Center membership must be purchased in addition to to facility membership.

- Only individuals who have purchased a building membership or are current full time UW Parkside students may use the Sports and Activity Center.
- The
rate includes membership to the Parkside 200, Ltd. Scholarship Organization.
$150 of the individual membership fee is contributed to the athletic
scholarship fund. Consult your tax advisor for the tax deductibility
of this contribution. $110 is used for facility costs. 100% of the Parkside
family memberships are used for the facility costs. The entire cost
of a senior citizen membership is used for facility costs.
- Yearly rates may be purchased in any month. The date of expiration is one year from the date of purchase.
- Semester
rates will not be prorated by the month and/or day.
- Family
memberships expire on the same date as the individual membership.
- Should a membership card be lost, a replacement card may be purchased one time for $10.00. The first card will be voided in the Ranger Card system upon purchase of the replacement card.
- Academic rates extend from 9/1 through 5/31.
- Summer Session rates extend from 6/1 through 8/31.
- First
semester rates extend from 9/1 through Martin Luther King Day.
Second semester rates extend from Martin Luther King Day through 5/31. - A membership fee will not be prorated, adjusted or refunded because a space in the SAC facilities becomes unavailable for use whether it is for a day or for an extended period of time.
- Memberships
may be purchased at the Visitor's Center (1st floor south lobby) or
if closed, the main office (2nd floor). Cash, personal check, or money
order will be accepted for payment. If a check is returned for insufficient
funds, all membership privileges shall be revoked immediately.

Building Rules:
- Acceptable rules of conduct must be observed at all times. Violation of the rules included here or in other posted policies, any disorderly conduct or inappropriate behavior including verbal or physical abuse of any employees or other user is subject to immediate removal with possible loss of building privileges.
- SAC
supervisors have full authority to ask participants to abide by the
buildings rules and may require participants to leave the building.
- No hanging from the basketball rims, drop weights, refusing to wear eye guards in the racquetball courts.
- No bicycles, in-line skates, or skateboards are allowed in the building.
- No spitting anywhere in the building.
- No
alcohol is permitted in the facility except at approved events
- No tobacco is permitted in the facility. All UW Parkside facilities are smoke-and-tobacco-free facilities. No food, drinks, or chewing gum are permitted in the activity spaces of the SAC except in the bleachers of the DeSimone Gymnasium or Petretti Fieldhouse during intercollegiate contests. Beverages permitted in the bleachers must be in a plastic capped sport drink bottle or covered plastic containers. No glass permitted.
- The use of video or photo equipment in the facility is strictly prohibited unless an administrative staff member has granted prior approval. Previous permission must be obtained from individuals being video taped.
- Personal audio devices are not allowed unless used with a headset.
- No fitness training, sport activities or bouncing balls will be allowed in hallways.
- No
personal items such as gym bags, backpacks, keys and wallets may be
placed in the Fieldhouse, Weight Room, Wellness Center, pool, or dance
studio. Locker rooms are available for personal items.
- No informal dunk contests permitted.
- Walkers should use the outside lanes of the track.
- Athletic Training staff and facility staff will not be able to treat recreational users for injuries. In case of an injury, local emergency personnel will be called and the expense of this call shall be the responsibility of the injured party. Ice is available from the issue room upon request but must not be construed as a treatment by the university for injury.
- Any materials that contain bodily fluids should be provided to the personnel at the issue room counter for disposal according to biohazard procedures.
- Everyone must be out of the building no later than 20 minutes after all activity areas have closed.
- Complaints
concerning a SAC Supervisor should be reported to the Facility Director.
Children:
- A sponsoring adult must accompany children 14 years of age and the adult must supervise the minor at all times while in the facilities. This includes the pool, pool deck and bleacher area.
- There must be at least one adult user present for each four children under the age of 14.
- Children
under the age of 16 and 17 may not use the Weight Room.
- Children
are not permitted in the Wellness Center.
Clothing:
- No outdoor
street shoes or black-soled
athletic shoes are permitted in the activity areas of the SAC. These
areas include but are not limited to the DeSimone Gymnasium, Petretti
Fieldhouse, dance studio, racquetball courts, multipurpose room, weight
room, and Wellness Center.
- For health code and safety reasons, individuals using the weight room and Wellness Center must wear shirts with full back and front, shorts, and shoes. No "flip flop" sandals, etc., are allowed. The room supervisor will have the final authority on the safety of footwear,
- In the pool, only
swim wear is acceptable. Swim caps are not required but encouraged for
those with long hair. Swim goggles are recommended. No persons wearing
pants, cut-off pants, belted shorts, T-shirts, and/or thong bikinis
will be allowed to use the pool. Infants and toddlers must wear a swim
diaper or plastic pants.
Facility
Rental:

Guests:
- Each SAC membership card entitles the members to purchase a maximum of two daily guests passes to the building per visit. Students from other UW System universities or centers may use the facility by paying the guest fee and presenting a current ID card from the university they are attending. One guest may accompany them for an additional guest fee. Guests must stay with the sponsor at all times.
- Individuals
may not solicit members for guest passes. Any person doing so will be
denied entry. Any person assisting in permitting an individual to enter
illegally will also be denied entry for that day.
Locker Rooms: - Members and guests are encouraged to leave valuables at home. However, if valuables are brought into the building it is recommended that all valuables be locked in a locker when recreating. The SAC is not responsible for lost or stolen items. In the general public locker rooms coin operated wall lockers are available for use. Personal locks may be used during the day but only UWP locks may be left on overnight.
- Members may rent half lockers by the semester year in the general public locker room. Long lockers may be used only on a daily basis and are not rented out. There is no partial refund on locker rentals should a member leave the SAC prior to the expiration of the locker rental period. Only one lock per member will be issued.
- Only UW Parkside Faculty & Staff may rent lockers in the reserved Faculty & Staff locker room. First priority for rental of these lockers is to full-time faculty and staff.. Any lockers available after September 15th may be rented out to part-time faculty and staff.
- Purchase of a UWP locker towel includes towel laundry. Damaged or extremely soiled towels will be refused for exchange. Only SAC towels will be accepted in the service exchange. If a towel is lost or stolen, it is the owners option to pay full towel price to replace it.
- Glass
is not permitted in the locker room.
Parking:
All individuals parking in the SAC parking lots are subject to the campus parking regulations. UWP Students, faculty and staff are required to purchase their parking passes through University Police. Parkside 200 memberships include one limited time parking pass per residence.

Racquetball:
- A court may be reserved at a specific time for one hour per day, during open reservation time. Open reservation time will vary. Check the posted notices for details.
- Court reservations may be made no more than 1 day in advance of the reserved time.
- Court reservations are taken daily, by phone or on a walk-in basis. Reservations are taken in the following order: one person in line at the issue counter followed by one person over the phone, when individuals are waiting at the issue counter. If a reserved space is not used within ten minutes beyond the reserved time, the space becomes available on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Ranger Power Center:
- You must present your SAC membership card for entrance to this facility.
- "Lift at your own risk" policy is in effect.
- No one under the age of 16 may use this facility.
- Wipe sweat off equipment pads and grips.
- Return plate weights and dumbbells to proper storage racks.
- Do not drop weights.
- Spotters are required for both the bench press and squatting.
- Do not
rearrange the room. Do not move bench press benches or selectorized
equipment.
