The UW-Parkside Wellness Center is a state-of-the-art fitness facility that serves UW-Parkside students and faculty/staff, alumni, plus members of the surrounding communities. It encompasses 26 pieces of cardiorespiratory equipment and 31 pieces of resistance equipment. The Center has the capability of accommodating a wide population through general fitness/ wellness programming, and also incorporates specific programming through utilizing an Aerobic Super Circuit (ASC). This unique program combines both cardiorespiratory and resistance training. Cardiorespiratory equipment (stationary bicycles) and resistance equipment (12 pieces requiring minimal adjustments) are alternated in 30-second intervals progressing from largest to smallest muscle groups, as well as upper and lower body movements. With a proper warm-up, one ASC and a complete cool-down including stretching, one can target nearly all of the health-related components of physical fitness in an efficient, effective 30-minute exercise session.
In order to use the Wellness Center, one of the following conditions must be met: (1) Enrollment in HESM 270 Lifetime Wellness and HESM 271 Wellness Lab; (2) Enrollment in HESM 171 Wellness Lab; or (3) Purchase of a Sports and Activity Center Facility Membership and a Wellness Center Membership.
