Assistant Professor of Economics
Macroeconomics and Monetary Economics

The University of Wisconsin-Parkside Economics Department invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in macroeconomics and monetary economics with a global perspective beginning August 2012. Secondary fields of interest are economic growth and econometrics. Courses taught include principles of macroeconomics, intermediate macroeconomics, and money and banking. The standard teaching load for all full time faculty is 21 credits per academic year, as indicated in UWPF policy. Individuals with diverse cultural and ethnic perspectives or experiences are encouraged to apply.

 Responsibilities:

• Teaching undergraduate classes in principles of macroeconomics, intermediate macroeconomics, and money and banking
• Research and publication
• Involvement in department, campus, and/or community service

 

Qualifications:

Required: 

• Ph.D. in Economics.  ABD (“all but dissertation”) candidates will be considered for a one-year terminal appointment as a Lecturer, with conversion to tenure track Assistant Professor if all requirements for the Ph.D. have been successfully completed by July 1st, 2013.
• Applicants must be able to teach sections in principles of macroeconomics, intermediate macroeconomics, and money and banking.
• Commitment to teaching excellence, active research and creative activity, and service required.

Preferred: 

• Primary research interest in the following areas:  macroeconomics and monetary economics with a global perspective; secondary research areas in the following: economic growth and econometrics
• Preference will be given to candidates with peer-reviewed journal publications, successful teaching record, and active community involvement.
• Experience working with students from a variety of economic, cultural and linguistic backgrounds and use of a variety of pedagogical styles. 

 

Salary:


Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and competitive with AACSB standards. The UW-System provides a liberal benefits package including participation in a state pension plan.
