Assistant Professor, Microbiology     
University of Wisconsin-Parkside

The Biological Sciences Department at the University of Wisconsin is looking to fill a 9-month Assistant Professor tenure-track position in Microbiology.  The successful candidate will primarily teach an upper-level microbiology course for majors, and an intermediate undergraduate microbiology course for pre-nursing students.  Additional courses in area of expertise to support a graduate program in Applied Molecular Biology or pre-health oriented students are possible. The incumbent will establish and maintain an active research program that engages students in an area related to microbiology, pathogenesis, or environmental microbiology; and will be active in writing and acquiring external funds to support research. This position reports to the Chair of the Biological Sciences Department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


Teaching/Advising:

The standard teaching load for all full time faculty is 21 credits per academic year, as indicated in UWPF policy.  Fall semesters would include the BIOS 202 (General Microbiology) 3-hour lecture and two or three 3-hour laboratory sections (pending enrollment),.  Spring semesters would include the BIOS 303 (Microbiology) three-hour lecture and three 3- hour laboratory sections.  In a typical semester, these courses would constitute the full-time teaching load.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. The University of Wisconsin System provides a benefits package, including participation in a state pension plan.
