Assistant/Associate Professor, Health, Exercise Science and Sport Management (HESM)

The Health, Exercise Science and Sport Management department at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside invites applications for a full time tenure track Assistant or Associate Professor of Exercise Science to begin in the 2012-2013 academic year.The standard teaching load for all full time faculty is 21 credits per academic year, as indicated in UWPF policy.

Responsibilities:
Primary responsibilities include: teaching, scholarly research activity, advising undergraduate students majoring in Fitness Management/Exercise Science and Applied Health Sciences, supervising fieldwork/internship placements, and participating in departmental/campus/community/professional service. The person in this position must have a commitment to excellence in teaching, high expectations of undergraduate education and student professionalism, and ability to work effectively with a diverse student population.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Earned terminal degree (Ph.D, Ed.D, etc.) with specialization in the exercise science field, requiredby the time of appointment. All But Dissertation (A.B.D.) status will be considered for a one-year appointment as a Lecturer with potential conversion to tenure track Assistant Professor if terminal degree is completed by June 2013.
- Primary research focus should be in the area of exercise physiology or closely related area in sport and exercise science with demonstrated ability to teach exercise physiology
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain an active research agenda; service to the profession, campus, and community.
- For appointments at the Associate rank, the applicant must meet the above requirements and provide evidence of an active journal publication record that is commensurate with the department requirements for this rank.
Preferred:
- Evidence of ability to teach in additional exercise science curricular areas such as exercise science laboratory classes, biomechanics, fitness asessment and prescription, and/or sport and fitness nutrition.
- Related certification from ACSM or NSCA.
- Awareness of and contacts with potential intern/fieldwork placement sites.
- Experience in the exercise science and/or fitness industry.
- Experience in advising undergraduate students in the field of Fitness Management/Exercise Science or Applied Health Sciences.
Salary:
Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. The University of Wisconsin System provides a benefits package, including participation in a state pension plan.
