Academic Librarian/Electronic Resources Coordinator

The University of Wisconsin-Parkside Library invites applications for an Electronic Resources Coordinator position. This position assumes a leadership role in managing electronic resources; coordinates and arranges e-resource trials, obtains licenses, and electronic resource agreements, and troubleshoots and maintains access to all electronic databases. This position communicates with vendors and publishers on matters involving electronic resources and compiles usage statistics from various sources. The Electronic Resources Coordinator functions within the Library’s Collection Development team, contributing expertise in electronic resource management. This position will also provide general reference and instruction; serve as a liaison to designated academic departments for collection development. The Librarian is responsible for providing excellent customer service in a professional manner, serving as a model representative of the University and the Library . This position is a permanent, 12-month academic staff appointment with a start date of July 1, 2008. The successful candidate will be hired at the rank of Academic Librarian.

The Library has a commitment to facilitating faculty and student research, a strong service orientation, and a well-developed program of library instruction. The Library uses Endeavor’s Voyager automated system, SFX and MetaLib software, and invests heavily in electronic reference and full-text sources. The Library has 9.5 professionals, 7 support staff, and approximately 20 student employees. Its collection includes 285,000 titles, 392,000 volumes, and 18,000 AV items.

Qualifications:
Required: Masters degree from an ALA accredited library school; Professional working knowledge with issues and trends in electronic resource management; strong technical skills; experience providing reference and instruction or the equivalent; excellent interpersonal and communication skills; web page development skills; ability to work collegially in small groups and team environments; and experience working with a diverse, multicultural population.

Preferred: Minimum two years of professional experience; experience working in an academic library; educational background or work experience in the sciences.

Salary
Minimum salary: $46,000. The University of Wisconsin System provides a liberal benefits package, including participation in a state pension plan.
