Athletic Trainer/Clinical Assistant Professor
The University of Wisconsin Parkside invites applications for the position of Athletic Trainer/ Clinical Assistant Professor.
Duties: The Athletic Trainer assists in coordinating the medical care for 240 student-athletes. The Athletic Trainer assists the Director of Sports Medicine in the following areas: Develop procedures and guidelines for initial sport participation in compliance with University and NCAA Div. II policies. Act as a liaison between the Athletics Department, Insurance Coordinator and Risk Management Coordinator. Create guidelines as needed for special medical populations. Assist with maintaining equipment and athletic training facilities. Provide onsite evaluation and rehabilitation of injuries. Maintain accurate medical records in compliance with HIPPA and FERPA guidelines. Maintain an accurate inventory of supplies. Develops, evaluates and maintains daily contact with Head coaches regarding injury/illness status of student-athletes. Will teach 25% or the equivalent to 3 credits per semester for HESM. These classes will pertain to athletic training or sport management and exercise science.
Skills: Ability to work effectively in a team environment; outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written; ability to attend all home athletic practices and events as assigned; organized and professional when dealing with students and the campus community; must possess exceptional interpersonal skills.
Qualifications:
Required: Master’s degree required in related field; Certified Athletic Trainer. (Wisconsin Licensed or eligible).
Preferred: Previous experience as an athletic trainer at the collegiate level; previous teaching experience at the college level.
Salary: Range $36,000-$45,000
(12 month appointment athletic trainer, 9 month academic appointment)
