The Biological Sciences Department at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside invites applications for a Lecturer position in human anatomy and physiology, to begin August 2010. Preference will be given to those with demonstrated commitment and experience in teaching; experience in dissections and with cadavers, and expertise in histology, pathology, or parasitology. The department offers B.S. degrees in Biological Sciences, Molecular Biology Bioinformatics, and an M.S. in Applied Molecular Biology. It also supports an interdepartmental B.S. degree in Applied Health Science degree and a consortial B.S. degree in nursing.
Qualifications
Required:
Candidates must have Masters or Ph.D. degree in biological sciences or related field with graduate training in human anatomy and physiology; strong interest in undergraduate education; relevant teaching experience and demonstrated interest in teaching a culturally diverse student population.
Preferences:
Candidates with dissection skills relevant to human anatomy and physiology; experience working with a cadaver; and expertise in histology, pathology or parasitology.
Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will teach lecture and laboratory courses in human anatomy and physiology to health-oriented undergraduate students in biological sciences, nursing, and applied health sciences majors. Additional general education or course in area of special expertise may also be possible. This position will involve working collaboratively with other biology instructors in shared lab and lecture courses. Some service to the department in support of curriculum and teaching and service to the university and community in area of expertise and health-related education.
Salary:
Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. The specific amount is negotiated between the hire and the Provost. The University of Wisconsin System provides a liberal benefits package, including participation in a state pension plan.
