System Administrator

The University of Wisconsin Parkside The Computer Science Department at University of Wisconsin-Parkside invites applications for a full-time system administrator to manage the department's computing resources.

The Computer Science Department offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science which currently has approximately 100 majors. In conjunction with the Business Department, it offers a Master of Science degree in Computer and Information Systems. In addition, the department is home to a CS minor, a web programming minor and three certificate programs, in World Wide Web Publishing, Cyber Security and UNIX System Administration.

Responsibilities:
Primary responsibility is to install, maintain and monitor the CS Department's computing systems, including academic labs, research facilities, and classroom and office computers. Specific responsibilities include: installing and configuring systems and applications software; installing and configuring local and remote printers; managing user accounts; maintaining CS Department instructional technology, including document cameras, robots and other devices; configuring and maintaining the departmental web server and web site; designing and delivering short courses introducing CS lab facilities to new students and staff; identifying security risks for the CS Department systems and taking appropriate steps to mitigate those risks; assisting CS faculty and staff in installing, configuring and maintaining systems for special projects; and carrying out other duties as assigned by the CS Department chairperson.

Qualifications:
Required: BS in Computer Science or a closely related discipline; substantial experience as a system administrator in a multi-platform environment including UNIX and Windows. Demonstrated ability to work with a multicultural, diverse student body and staff.

Preferred: Experience securing computer systems; Experience supervising student employees; Ability to work closely with CS faculty and staff in support of CS Department's mission; Teaching experience.

Commensurate with qualifications and experience. The University of Wisconsin System provides a liberal benefits package, including participation in a state pension plan.
