Lecturer, Economics
The University of Wisconsin-Parkside Economics Department invites applications for a full-time Lecturer for one-year with possibility of renewal, in applied economics, specifically financial economics, industrial organization, health economics, and urban economics, beginning August 18, 2009.
Qualifications
Required: Applicants must either have a Ph.D. in economics or be a Ph.D. candidate in economics (i.e., “all but dissertation”). Primary fields of interest are financial economics, industrial organization, and health economics (a global perspective is preferred). Applicants must be committed to teaching excellence.
Preferred: Secondary field of interest is urban and regional economics. Teaching experience in principles of microeconomics, principles of macroeconomics, and applied economics (in particular, financial economics and industrial organization) is preferred. The department encourages applications from individuals who will bring to campus diverse cultural and ethnic perspectives or experiences.
Responsibilities
This lecturer will be expected to teach four classes each semester (usually one upper-level undergraduate course and three economic principles courses). In addition to teaching principles courses, this lecturer professor will play an integral role in teaching the curriculum of the monetary and financial economics concentration of the economics major. Upper level courses will include ECON 360: Industrial Organization and Regulation and ECON 367: Financial Institutions and Markets. This lecturer may be requested to assist with the Department’s academic assessment efforts and to engage in community-based learning projects.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. The University of Wisconsin System provides a liberal benefits package, including participation in a state pension plan.
