Environmental Programmer (Internal Search Only)

The Center for Community Partnerships at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside invites applications for an Environmental Programmer . This position is a short term grant funded position ending on September 30, 2009.

The Environmental Programmer is a member of the Professional and Continuing Education functional team within the Center for Community Partnerships (CCP) and works collaboratively with local public and private schools, area conservation/ environmental groups, to implement an Environmental Survival Challenge program associated the Southeastern Wisconsin Service Learning Consortium. The aim is to expand aspects of the Environmental Survival Challenge throughout Racine and Kenosha counties to involve students and businesses from rural, urban and suburban areas. The Environemtnal Prgrammer will also serve as the convening agent for the PK-16 Eco-Science and Service Learning (coalition). This person will intentionally develop linkages with green jobs, talent pathways, STEM focus and sector-based initaives sponsored by WIRED, the Regional Workforce Alliance and the local workforce system. Additionally, this position will facilitate quick mobilization of partnerships as needed to support projects that may emerge through economic stimulus package.

Responsibilities include:

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in a field related to environmental sciences, organizational and/or community development, education, or commensurate training and experience.

• Excellent communication skills, particularly regarding written communication and oral presentation/ instruction.

• Experience with grant and/or contract management.

• Demonstrated capacity to develop and sustain partnerships with diverse stakeholders (i.e., K-12 schools,, environmental groups).

• Demonstrated ability to develop resources for educational programs.

• Advanced proficiency with computer software used in communicating effectively with multiple stakeholders (i.e. Microsoft Suite, database software, internet, etc.)

• Sensitivity to or demonstrated experience working with, diverse populations and constituencies.

 Preferences: 

• Understanding of, and experience working within, postsecondary environments, particularly in areas related to environmental education, community engagement, and community-campus partnerships.

• Experience coordinating, supervising and/or working in teams responsible for group work, and ability to foster a collaborative, efficient work environment.

Salary:  Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
