Assistant/Associate/Full Professor: Fitness Management
The Health, Exercise Science and Sport Management department at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside invites applications for a full time tenure track Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Fitness Management (Exercise Science) for the 2010-2011 academic year.
Required Qualifications:
Earned terminal degree (Ph.D, Ed.D, etc.) requiredby the time of appointment. ABD will be considered for a one-year only appointment as a Lecturer with conversion to tenure track Assistant Professor if terminal degree is completed by June 2011. Primary focus should be in the area of exercise science. Ability to teach core science courses such as: Exercise Physiology, Biomechanics, Sport and Fitness Nutrition, and Fitness Assessment and Prescription. Expertise in conducting fitness assessments; promise for scholarly research; service to the profession, campus, community, region, and nation. Strong interest in undergraduate education and ability to work effectively with a culturally diverse student population.
Preferences:
Ability to teach Sport and Fitness Psychology, Aging and Wellness and/or Fitness Program Management. It is desirable for the applicant to have awareness of and contacts with potential intern/fieldwork placement sties, experience in the exercise science and/or fitness management industry, and have the ability to advise undergraduate students in Fitness Management and Applied Health Sciences. Demonstrated experience in working effectively with persons from culturally diverse backgrounds.
Responsibilities:
Primary responsibilities include: teaching, scholarly research activity, advising undergraduate students majoring in Fitness Management and/or Applied Health Sciences, supervising fieldwork/internship placements, and participating in departmental/campus/community/professional service.
Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. The University of Wisconsin System provides a liberal benefits package, including participation in a state pension plan.
