Lecturer, Music - Jazz
The Music Department at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside invites applications for a Lecturer in Jazz. This is a one semester position, January – May 2010, with a possibility of renewal.
Responsibilities:
- Provide artistic leadership and direct all aspects of the Jazz Studies concentration
- Direct the UW-Parkside Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Combo.
- Teach selected courses to be selected from Jazz Fundamentals, Jazz Improvisation, Jazz Appreciation, Jazz History, Jazz Styles, Jazz Arranging, and Music Business Seminar. Depending on the load, the needs of the department, and the expertise of the successful candidate, additional teaching may include applied music lessons or other coursework.
- Coordinate the efforts of associate lecturers to insure high quality instruction in all Jazz Studies offerings.
Qualifications:
Required
- Master of Music degree
- Active jazz performer
- Experience in directing a large jazz ensemble.
- Ability to work effectively with culturally diverse students and colleagues
Preferred
College level teaching experience
Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience. The University of Wisconsin System provides a liberal benefits package, including participation in a state pension plan.
